Spring has sprung

We survived a winter in the Pacific Northwest.  I think my only complaint has been about how dark it was during the winter.  Long nights plus rain made for a very dark winter.  The winter was slightly cooler winters in Austin, but much wetter and much greener.  They don't call this the Evergreen state for no reason!  Our grass stayed green all through the winter.  The wet weather has also translated into a beautiful spring.  There are flowering trees and bulb flowers popping up everywhere.

We've taken advantage of the lighter days of spring to get out with the kids more on the weekends rather than look for indoor activities.  This past weekend, we stopped by Juanita Beach.  It's a nice little beach on Lake Washington.  We wore our galoshes and the the kids enjoyed splashing at the shoreline.  We also visited Madison Park, which is, in my opinion, the beautiful and historic part of Seattle.  The homes there are just amazing grand and beautiful.  We met up with my old college roommate with her family.  There, we found a "good" Tex-Mex restaurant, "Cactus", right next to the park.  It's not Chuy's, but it'll do.

I look forward to more of the Evergreen state's green bounty as we head into the warmer months. I'll certainly miss the Austin wildflowers of April.  Although Dolphin may have found a promising alternative here.  The University of Washington has a quad lined with blossoming cherry trees.  Hopefully, we'll catch them in bloom.
